Dear Friends of Stanford Hills,
It’s time for us to announce an exciting new development here at Stanford Hills, one which we are very excited to share with you.
Shown here with me (Jami) and husband Peter is a someone who has already become well known to many locals in the last couple of years. Jose Marinho is known for his outstanding Portuguese-inspired cuisine and passion for the restaurant industry, with more than 40 years experience. He opened a restaurant locally and very quickly the reputation drew diners from far and wide. When the venue was sold, and he could no longer continue operations we were all deeply saddened. (I suffered severe cravings for his calamari and prawns specifically myself).
But the opportunity was created to establish something new, a match made in heaven. The vast lawns, beautiful views and laid back vibe at Stanford Hills quickly captured his heart.
As of 1 July 2024, The Tasting Room at Stanford Hills will become Casa Cello, under the masterful care of Jose. Keeping some of your favourite dishes, but bringing in an exciting new burst of flavour, passion and inventive dishes. Children will also be amply catered for, as we continue to be the ideal venue for family celebrations of any kind.
Join us on 1 July from 12 noon for a taste of what’s to come. We will not take bookings on that day, but will serve a variety of snack sizes portions to whet your appetite, and of course the full range of Stanford Hills wines for sale. Come and say hi to Jose and ourselves, and enjoy a celebration of ringing in a new era.
Bookings for breakfast and lunch at the new Casa Cello will open from 2 July, and the restaurant will continue to operate seven days a week from 8am to 5pm. As winter leads into spring, look out for news about evening openings. Bookings can be made on 072 639 6135.
Thank you to all our customers who have helped us grow from a tiny outbuilding to a real restaurant over the last 11 years, we can’t wait to see you all at Casa Cello at Stanford Hills Estate.

Can’t wait to visit Casa Cello, Jose’s new Portuguese restaurant at Stanford Hills which opened today! His Portuguese cuisine is just simply the best and comes highly rated and our favourite “go to” place was always his Restaurant at Misty Mountains! So glad we retained his skill and authentic delicacies!! His Focassia served with a side of Garlic, Chilli and Parmezan cheese together with a portion of Chicken livers is to die for! Would love to view his new menu though! See you soon!

We had lunch at Casa Cello, and it was FANTASTIC! Prawns, giblets and calamari. Wow absolutely delish!
